Overview
Brass instruments – they’re pretty incredible, aren’t they? From the soaring brilliance of the trumpet to the rich warmth of the trombone, French horn, euphonium, or tuba, brass instruments have a unique ability to cut through an ensemble or blend into lush harmonies. They show up in classical music, jazz, pop, R&B, film scores, and more – leaving a lasting impression wherever they’re played.
By taking brass lessons through M&M, you’ll get the chance to develop that powerful, resonant sound you’ve always admired. Lessons go beyond just the basics of brass playing – we also emphasize musicianship skills such as music theory, sight-reading, ear training, interpretation, and more.
We encourage every student to bring music that excites them to the lesson. What are you waiting for? Let’s get started!
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to provide my own instrument?
YES. Each brass instrument requires its own setup – instrument and mouthpiece. If you don’t already own one, many local music stores offer affordable rental programs. We’re happy to provide recommendations for where to rent or purchase!
What do lessons look like?
We tailor lessons around the student’s interests. While you’ll always work on core brass fundamentals – like embouchure, breath support, articulation, and range – the lessons will also focus on your personal goals. That might mean learning a favorite jazz solo, preparing a part in your school band, or building a strong low register. We want you to have fun while making steady, meaningful progress.
Can you help with school or regional audition preparation?
Absolutely! With dedication and the right guidance, we can help you prepare effectively for auditions at the school, district, regional, or even collegiate level.
My kid wants to play a brass instrument and I don't know anything about it... what can I do?
That’s where we come in! Your instructor is a resource not just for your child, but for you as well. If you’d like tips on how to support practice at home, what to listen for, or simply want to understand more about the world of brass instruments, we’re always happy to help.
